
Jammu and Kashmir: Heavy rains cause flooding in Chenab river, loss of life in Doda.
Ramban, June 27 - Heavy rains in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir have caused flooding in the Baglihar Hydroelectric Power Project. According to officials, several lives have been lost in rain-related incidents in Doda district. Explaining the seriousness of the situation, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range Shridhar Patil appealed to people to stay away from rivers and flowing drains.

The DIG said, "The water level in Chenab river has increased. An incident has also come to our notice in Doda district, in which some people have lost their lives. I appeal to all people not to go near the rivers... the water level is very high. Don't put yourself at risk.''
The India Meteorological Department has also predicted light to moderate rainfall with thunder, lightning and strong winds gusting to 30-40 kmph in northwest India from June 24 to June 30.
