Una, 9 February- On the first death anniversary of Prof. (Dr) Simmi Agnihotri, who made incomparable contribution in the field of education and social service, today (Sunday), Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri paid tribute by offering flowers to her newly installed statue at Professor Simmi Agnihotri Government Degree College, Haroli. On this occasion, he paid tribute along with his daughter Dr. Aastha Agnihotri and other dignitaries and also planted a sapling in the college campus in her memory.

It is worth noting that Late Prof. Simmi Agnihotri, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, was not only a distinguished educationist, but her loyalty and dedication towards social service was also unparalleled. Prof. Simmi Agnihotri passed away on 9 February 2024 last year. She was a professor of public administration at Himachal Pradesh University and made a special contribution in the field of education and social service in the state. Her research and teaching work left an indelible mark in the world of education, which guided and inspired countless students. Dedicated to social service, Prof. Simmi played a leading role in social works like helping the poor, anti-drug movement, road safety campaign through Aastha Foundation.
In view of her dedication to education and social service, her statue has been installed in Haroli College, which will remind the coming generations of her contribution.
*Langar Seva organized at Regional Hospital Una*
On the death anniversary of Prof. Simmi Agnihotri, Langar Seva was organized at Regional Hospital, Una, in which Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, his daughter Dr. Aastha Agnihotri and brother Rakesh Agnihotri themselves served food to the patients, attendants and hospital staff.
On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Prof. Simmi Agnihotri's spirit of service has been an inspiration for the society. She was always dedicated to serving the sick, the poor and the needy. He said that this langar seva has been organized with the resolve to carry forward the social work started by him.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to all the people present on the occasion and remembering the contribution of Prof Simmi, said that his loyalty and dedication towards social service will always be inspiring.
