
The 7th Badminton Tournament in the memory of Jathedar Resham Singh Thiara started in a grand manner.
Nawanshahr, April 18- The 26th Badminton Tournament organized by Shaheed Bhagat Singh Academy (Regd.) Nawanshahr and the 7th tournament in the memory of impeccable personality Jathedar Resham Singh Thiara, former Chairman of District Planning Committee, formally started today at the Indoor Badminton Stadium on Chandigarh Road. Constituency MLA Nachhatar Pal participated as the chief guest.
Nawanshahr, April 18- The 26th Badminton Tournament organized by Shaheed Bhagat Singh Academy (Regd.) Nawanshahr and the 7th tournament in the memory of impeccable personality Jathedar Resham Singh Thiara, former Chairman of District Planning Committee, formally started today at the Indoor Badminton Stadium on Chandigarh Road. Constituency MLA Nachhatar Pal participated as the chief guest.
On this occasion, Jathedar Thiara's son Ramandeep Singh Thiara, his daughter-in-law Bibi Manjit Kaur and wife Bibi Balveer Kaur Thiara were specially present. He said that sports is the best way to save the young generation from going towards drugs.
In today's internet era where youth are using the internet, interesting and creative initiatives like sports are needed to take them towards struggle, health and self-reliance. He said that today many people are planning to re-establish the Akali Dal government, because many special schemes were implemented regarding sports during the Akali period. Unfortunately today those schemes have become history.
He said that today drug smuggling is skyrocketing. People are worried about how to save their children. Many families are risking their lives by sending their children abroad, so that they can be saved from drugs. Due to unemployment, countless youths are getting into mental stress and are being attracted towards drugs. He said that the government should make special efforts to save the youth from unemployment and drugs.
MLA Nachhatar Pal said that the social services of Jathedar Thiara are still alive in the minds of the people. Even though he is not physically alive, his thoughts and work are still alive in the souls of the people. Due to the services rendered by him, people still respect and remember him. He said that this three-day tournament to be held in the memory of Jathedar Thiara will be full of interesting matches. He appealed to the people of the constituency to come and watch the tournament and encourage the players.
