While this is making the dreams of education of girls come true and bringing positive changes in their lives, on the other hand, they are also becoming self-reliant through skill development.

Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that till now financial assistance of Rs 5,86,730 has been provided to girls of 24 poor families in the district for providing higher education. The objective of this scheme is not only to lead the girls of economically backward sections towards education and self-reliance, but also to instill a sense of self-confidence and self-reliance in them.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that under the Samarthya scheme, many facilities related to education, health, cleanliness, and skill development are being provided free of cost to the girls of poor families. Girls who had left their studies due to financial constraints are benefiting from the scheme and are pursuing higher education. He said that this initiative has become an effective medium to bring the weaker sections of the society into the mainstream.
He said that the eligibility to get benefits under the scheme is for those girls whose father has passed away or who are more than 70 percent disabled. Apart from this, the applicant should have taken admission in any institute for higher education after 12th, and the annual income of their family should not exceed Rs 50 thousand. It is also a condition that they should not have taken benefit of any other scheme. The beneficiary should be a permanent resident of Una district.
