District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal held a meeting on Tuesday with representatives of various political parties of the district in view of the Lok Sabha elections-2024. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner asked the political parties to follow the model code of conduct for free, fair and peaceful elections. Along with giving information about the entire election process, he also resolved the questions and doubts of the delegates.

District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal held a meeting on Tuesday with representatives of various political parties of the district in view of the Lok Sabha elections-2024. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner asked the political parties to follow the model code of conduct for free, fair and peaceful elections. Along with giving information about the entire election process, he also resolved the questions and doubts of the delegates.
Election programs will be allowed on Suvidha App
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Election Commission of India has created 'Suvidha App' for various permissions related to election programmes. Through this, various types of permissions related to election campaigning including election rallies, street meetings and use of loudspeakers can be obtained. This includes vehicle permission for star campaigners and party officials, use of helicopters and heli pads, opening of temporary party office, vehicle permit, permission to install loudspeakers in vehicles, vehicle permission for candidates and election agents in the entire assembly constituency. Various permissions related to election programs can be obtained.
Complain about violation of code of conduct on C-Vigil app
Jatin Lal said that complaints of those who violate the model code of conduct during elections can be lodged through the C-Vigil app. C-VIGIL App can be downloaded through cvigil.eci.gov.in or Google Pay Store. He said that any person can easily send complaints about those violating the Model Code of Conduct directly to the Election Commission through this app.
Will not be able to post promotional material on public property
District Election Officer said that in view of MCC, wall writing, displaying election material, putting up banners, flags and hoardings on public property will be prohibited. Apart from this, it will be mandatory to obtain NOC from the concerned property owner for placing this type of promotional material on private property. He said that during the elections, temporary campaign offices will not be established in religious places as well as in hospitals and educational institutions. On the day of voting, it will be prohibited to set up a temporary campaign office even within 200 meters of the polling station. To release the advertisement, any candidate will have to present his advertisement related documents three times before the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee.
Use of pictures of army and soldiers in election campaign will be prohibited. Child labor and use of animals will also be banned in the campaign. There will also be a ban on the use of plastic and polythene in campaigning.
Special arrangements for disabled and elderly, facility of voting from home will be available.
Jatin Lal said that the Election Commission has made special arrangements for elderly people above 85 years of age and people with more than 40 percent disability. He said that elderly people above 85 years of age and people with more than 40 percent disability will have the option of voting from home. They will have to fill Form-12D to opt for voting from home. BLOs will provide this form at every door. Apart from this, there will be special arrangements for them at the polling station also. To make the election easier, special facilities like vehicle facility from home, ramp, wheelchair and volunteers will be available at the polling booth.
Tehsildar Election Suman Kapoor, BJP representative Pramod Kumar, Congress Party representatives Rajiv Puri and Tilak Raj and other representatives were present in the meeting.
