Karnal, March 21: The 'Fit India Carnival' is being organized by SAI (Sports Authority of India) and 'Fit India' from March 21 to March 23. During the evening session today, MLA Jagmohan Anand inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest by lighting the ceremonial lamp. On this occasion, MLA Jagmohan Anand urged the athletes to stay away from social evils such as drug abuse and to cultivate a greater interest in sports.
He stated that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana government is currently implementing various new schemes aimed at promoting sports and encouraging the youth to engage in athletic activities—schemes from which the athletes are directly benefiting.
District Sports Officer Rajbir Singh Ranga informed that during the morning session of the Fit India Carnival, Karnal SDM Pradeep Kumar inaugurated the proceedings. While encouraging the participants, he emphasized the importance of making fitness an integral part of one's daily life. On the inaugural day of the carnival, participants turned out in large numbers and took part enthusiastically.
He further noted that various fitness and sports activities were organized on the first day, prominently featuring Yoga, Zumba, Tug-of-War, Weightlifting, and the traditional sport of Mallakhamb. Through these activities, awareness regarding physical fitness was fostered among the participants.
The morning session of the event witnessed the active participation of approximately 500 individuals, a turnout that serves as a testament to the program's success. The primary objective of the event is to heighten fitness awareness among the general public and to promote a healthy lifestyle. Also present on this occasion were Ritu Pathak, Executive Director of SAI (Sonipat), and Assistant Director Meeta Bhardwaj.
