Hoshiarpur - A press note issued by former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Teekshan Sood says that ten years ago, India's international image was so low that it was seen only as a country seeking loans from other countries. At the international level, many times India's legitimate voice was not even heard, because one or the other of the permanent members of the United Nations - America, Russia, Britain, France and China - used its veto power against India and India had to endure it silently.
Sood said that just as there was a strong desire of the Indian people that India should become a nuclear power, there was also a similar heartfelt desire that India should become a permanent member of the United Nations and gain veto power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's skillful diplomacy, contacts and relations at the international level have now proven that India will be one of the six countries with veto power in the world.
He said that even before this, there were many attempts to make India a permanent member of the United Nations, but they did not succeed due to opposition from China or other countries. But during the Modi government, in the recent UN meeting, the proposal to grant permanent membership to India was passed with a huge majority. In which 146 countries out of 193 countries voted in favor of India. Only Turkey and some Gulf countries tried to oppose, but no attention was paid to them.
The most remarkable thing was that China, which is considered a traditional opponent of India, also openly voted in favor of India and considered India worthy of permanent membership and veto power in the UN. Sood said that this will be recorded in history as the biggest achievement of the Modi government's tenure. Because now no decision at the international level will be able to be taken without the consent of India.
