Karnal, September 30:- Congress MP Deepender Hooda, who attended the Congress workers’ conference as the chief guest, strongly criticised the BJP government. Addressing the workers, he alleged that public sentiment in Haryana was defeated through collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission and that promises made to the people during the elections had not been fulfilled.

Deepender Hooda said that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had promised in 2024 to provide a price of ₹3,100 per quintal for PR paddy to farmers, but ₹3,100 MSP has not been announced to date. He alleged that even at the current MSP of ₹2,400, paddy is being purchased through informal slips after deductions of ₹200 to ₹400. He said that farmers were not only being denied ₹3,100 but were also facing lathi charges in Kurukshetra.

Hooda said that while the Chief Minister was promising in Punjab that all crops would be purchased at MSP, a promise had been made in Haryana three seasons ago to provide ₹3,100 per quintal for PR paddy. He played a video of the Chief Minister’s earlier statement for the workers from the stage. He demanded that the MSP of paddy be increased from ₹2,400. If the MSP was not increased, he demanded that paddy should be purchased at ₹3,100 per quintal by providing a bonus of ₹700 per quintal on the lines of the Hooda government.

The MP congratulated the athletes who won medals at the Asian Games and said that Haryana’s players had once again enhanced the honour and prestige of the country. He said Haryana athletes had made an important contribution to the medals won by the country in various events, including kabaddi, women’s relay and shooting. He also reiterated the demand that the Commonwealth Games be hosted in Haryana instead of Gujarat.

Deepender Hooda alleged that the BJP had misused constitutional institutions and said that the BJP formed a government in Haryana against public sentiment through “saam, daam, dand and bhed”. He said the BJP had not fulfilled several promises made to the people during the elections. He also accused the BJP of accumulating unlimited black money through corruption.

Hooda referred to the issue of alleged vote theft in Haryana raised by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and said that Congress had presented allegations of electoral irregularities along with evidence. He also questioned alleged discrepancies between voting and vote-counting figures. He demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and fresh elections in Haryana.

He said the BJP had promised during the elections to increase the pensions of senior citizens to ₹6,000, provide women ₹3,100 per month under the Lado Lakshmi scheme, make gas cylinders available for ₹500, provide 100-square-yard plots each to poor, SC and BC families, and regularise HKRN employees and sanitation workers. He alleged that several of these promises had not yet been fulfilled.

Hooda said that during the Congress government, Haryana was among the leading states in the country in terms of development, per capita income, growth rate and investment. Referring to the Congress government’s farmer and poor welfare schemes, he said that schemes such as electricity bill waivers, cooperative loan waivers, fair prices for crops and 100-square-yard plots for poor families had been implemented during that period.

He also targeted the BJP government over unemployment, drug abuse, crime, corruption and the migration of young people abroad. He said that young people were on the streets and that government policies were affecting their future.
