Ambala, July 7: The meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), held at the local Panchayat Bhawan, turned chaotic today when Rajya Sabha Member Kartikeya Sharma, angered by the attitude of the district administration, walked out of the meeting while issuing a stern warning to the officials. He expressed strong objection and resentment over the administration's continuous rejection of proposed development projects under the MP's fund.
During the meeting, Sharma criticized the administrative officials, alleging that the district administration was deliberately delaying public welfare projects proposed by him. Sternly rebuking the officials, the MP declared, "If the district administration continues to reject my proposals in this manner, then there is no point in me being present in this DISHA meeting." Expressing his displeasure, he stood up and left the meeting midway. He warned the officials that compromising public interest is unacceptable and that officials must perform their duties with diligence and accountability.
During this incident, Sharma received support from Ambala Lok Sabha Member Varun Chaudhary. Chaudhary also raised serious questions about the functioning of the administration and expressed his dissent, stating that not only the Rajya Sabha Member’s but his own proposed development projects were also being unnecessarily stalled. This strong stance and open opposition from the public representatives caused panic among the officials present. The resentment of both MPs has raised serious questions about the working style of the district administration. This conflict between the MPs and the administration regarding development works has now become a major topic of political discussion in the district.
The review revealed that many development works sanctioned under the MP Area Development Fund remained incomplete despite specified deadlines. Kartikeya Sharma demanded answers from the concerned officials. He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the government’s clear objective is for the benefits of every public welfare scheme to reach the last person in a timely and effective manner.
Dissatisfied with the performance of the officials, Rajya Sabha Member Kartikeya Sharma even ordered the transfer of a negligent officer. He stated that necessary administrative action will be taken against officials causing unnecessary delays in development projects. Speaking to the media after the walk-out, he clearly stated, "Any official who does not perform will be removed. Negligence in public development projects will not be tolerated at any cost."
He warned that if instructions given in future DISHA committee meetings are ignored and there is no improvement in performance, he will consider constitutional options such as moving a privilege motion in Parliament. Sharma reiterated that his goal is not to pressure officials but to ensure the timely completion of projects and to ensure transparency, accountability, and quality in governance.
