Hansi: Haryana’s Minister of Public Works and Public Health, Ranbir Singh Gangwa, addressed a press conference on Wednesday at the local Public Works Department (PWD) rest house. MLA Vinod Bhayana and BJP District President Ashok Saini were also present on the occasion.
During the press conference, Cabinet Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa stated that the Emergency imposed on the country on June 25, 1975, was the darkest chapter in the history of Indian democracy. He remarked that the then Prime Minister, in a bid to cling to power, trampled upon the basic spirit of the Constitution and plunged the entire nation into the fire of the Emergency. During that period, opposition leaders were imprisoned, press freedom was curtailed, and efforts were made to suppress the voices of ordinary citizens.
He noted that democratic institutions were weakened during the Emergency, and several constitutional amendments were enacted solely to benefit those in power. Cabinet Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa emphasized the importance of remembering this history to prevent the recurrence of such events in the future. He observed that while some political parties today speak of saving the Constitution, their own history is replete with instances of violating constitutional norms.
Cabinet Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to observe June 25 as "Samvidhan Hatya Diwas" (Constitution Murder Day) is a tribute to the "Democracy Warriors" who struggled and endured imprisonment and torture during that era.
Speaking on the drinking water issue in Chainat village during the press conference, Cabinet Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa clarified that the government's priority is to ensure the village receives an adequate and regular supply of drinking water. He assured that Chainat village would not face a water shortage. He mentioned that alternative arrangements are being made to supply water from the Bhakra Canal; an independent water supply pipeline is being laid, and separate arrangements for electricity are being put in place.
He further explained that funds received under the AMRUT scheme are earmarked exclusively for urban areas, whereas work in rural areas is carried out under the Jal Jeevan Mission. In light of this, a permanent solution to the drinking water problem for Chanat village is being devised within the framework of the policy. He stated that a tender for the construction of an RCC tank in the village has already been issued, and work is set to begin soon.
Cabinet Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa remarked that members of certain opposition political parties are attempting to mislead the villagers and are spreading confusion based on incorrect facts. He urged the villagers not to be swayed by anyone. He assured them that water would be provided to Chanat village first, followed by ensuring the supply for the city.
Responding to a question, he mentioned that an investigation is underway regarding the installation of a 'T-joint' in the pipeline being laid to supply drinking water from the Bhakra Canal to Hansi city. Action will be taken against those found guilty.
He stated that the government's objective is to provide clean drinking water to every citizen of the state, and work in this direction is ongoing. Dinesh Bhutani (Political Advisor to MLA Vinod Bhayana), BJP District General Secretary Dharmveer Rateria, Mandal President Tanuj Khurana, BJP office-bearers, and officials from various departments were also present on the occasion.
