Patiala, October 4 (Manpreet Singh):- A blood donation camp was organized today by the Bareta Welfare Association, Patiala, at the residence of Shri Harbans Lal in Azad Nagar, Sirhind Road. The camp was organized by Shri Harbans Lal in memory of his late wife, Smt. Vijay Lakshmi. On the occasion, Association President Shri Lekh Raj and all the office-bearers extended their full cooperation to make the blood donation camp a success. The camp was inaugurated by Harbans Lal’s son Akhil Kumar and daughter-in-law Roopa Shukla by donating blood.
A total of 30 units of blood were collected at the camp under the supervision of the team from Red Aid Blood Bank, Khanna.
The Patiala unit of Tarksheel Society Punjab also participated in the blood donation camp. The Tarksheels urged the residents of the area, friends and relatives who attended the event to abandon superstitions and adopt a scientific outlook.
Tarksheel leaders Shri Ram Kumar Dhakdaba, Sneh Lata, Kulwant Kaur, Ram Singh Bang, Sarabjit Ukhla, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Gurpoornjit Singh and Thane Singh participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ram Kumar said that adopting a rationalist ideology is the need of the hour, as it can help save time, energy and money. He also said that supernatural powers do not exist and that there is neither heaven nor hell in the universe where Dharmaraj decides the consequences of people’s good and bad deeds. He said that nature itself created this world according to its own laws, and it is now the responsibility of all of us to preserve and take care of it.
At the conclusion of the camp, Shri Harbans Lal thanked all the personalities who attended the blood donation camp on behalf of his family and pledged to organize such programmes in the future as well.
