Chandigarh (Harminder Singh Nagpal):- A special blood donation camp was organised by the Thalassemic Charitable Trust (TCT) and the Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGI Chandigarh, on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day. It was the 343rd blood donation camp organised by the Trust.

The camp was inaugurated by PGI Dean (Academics) Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Jain as the Chief Guest. Medical Superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar, Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine Prof. (Dr.) R.R. Sharma and Additional Professor Dr. Suchet Sachdev were also present on the occasion. The Chief Guest inaugurated the programme by cutting a cake along with faculty members, thalassemia patients, students and staff. During the event, everyone pledged to donate blood in maximum numbers and create awareness among people.

A total of 86 voluntary blood donors donated blood during the camp. Nursing students, PGI volunteers and the Indian Red Cross Society, UT Chandigarh, provided active support to the initiative. Regular blood donors were also honoured during the programme.

At the conclusion, Prof. (Dr.) R.R. Sharma, Trust Chairperson Vibha Mittal, Member Secretary Rajinder Kalra and Senior Vice President A.P. Singh thanked the blood donors and the entire team.
