Patiala, October 4 (Manpreet Singh):- Tarksheel Society Punjab’s Patiala unit held a special meeting today at the residence of Tarksheel leader Shri Harbans Lal in Azad Nagar. During the meeting, a programme was planned to further intensify activities aimed at eliminating superstitions and promoting scientific thinking. The meeting was presided over by Tarksheel leader Shri Ram Kumar Dhakdaba.
Tarksheel leaders Smt. Sneh Lata, Kulwant Kaur, Ram Singh Bang, Sarabjit Ukhla, Ajay Kumar, Gurpoornjit Singh and Thane Singh, among others, attended the meeting.
On the occasion, all members condemned the Central Government’s decision not to include a ‘No Religion’ column for atheists, apart from other religions, in the forms for the census to be conducted in 2027. The Society also condemned the Election Commission of India for adding an unnecessary condition in Form No. 6 for registration of new voters, requiring the voter details of their parents, thereby causing inconvenience to lakhs of voters.
The meeting also condemned the village sarpanch of Talwandi Salem and his group for damaging the memorial of Shaheed poet Pash and demanded that the government register a criminal case against them.
On the occasion, Zonal Media Head Ram Singh Bang said that the Patiala unit of the Society had distributed around 700 pamphlets among the people regarding the life and struggle of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Duties had also been assigned to activists to organise Tarksheel programmes in schools of Patiala before conducting the Student Awareness Test.
