Hoshiarpur: On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the University School of Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology at Rayat Bahra Professional University organized a special awareness seminar on the prevention of breast and cervical cancer. The seminar was conducted under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Chandra Mohan and led by the Head of Department, Dr. Sukhmeet Kaur Bedi.
During the seminar, Dr. Shweta Tahlan, Senior Gynecologist-Oncologist from Fortis Hospital, Mohali, addressed the students and provided detailed information on the crucial role of the HPV vaccine in preventing cervical cancer. She also highlighted the importance of early detection, timely screening, and awareness regarding breast cancer.
Dr. Shweta Tahlan stated that serious diseases like cancer can be largely prevented through timely vaccination, regular health check-ups, and accurate information. She urged the youth to spread health awareness in society.
On this occasion, the Head of Department, Dr. Sukhmeet Kaur Bedi, thanked Dr. Shweta Tahlan, saying that the information provided by her was extremely beneficial for the students. She added that the university is continuously striving to promote social and health awareness along with education, and such seminars prove to be very useful for society. Teachers, students, and staff members were present at the seminar.
