Patiala, September 14:- On the occasion of International First Aid and CPR Day, while honouring outstanding principals of 21 schools, Dr. Rakesh Verma, President, Dedicated Brothers Group, Harpreet Sandhu, Secretary, and DSP Rural Shri Ranbir Singh said that students, teachers and citizens should contact the concerned authorities to undergo training and practice in first aid, CPR, fire safety, assistance to victims and the use of helpline numbers for their own safety and to help victims, so that people and youth can be prepared as helping angels to save victims from dying during any natural, seasonal or man-made disasters, wars, domestic/institutional incidents.
The DB Group is honouring every month with gold medals and appreciation certificates those who make efforts to save the lives of any animal, bird or human being. Whether they take victims to hospital or call the police, ambulances or fire brigade by phone, those brave students, teachers and citizens will be honoured.
Shri Kaka Ram Verma, retired Training Supervisor, Red Cross, and Dr. Rishman Kohli, Delhi Public School, said that across the world, first aid, CPR, ventilator and artificial respiration are being considered more beneficial than treatment, because saving victims from death and taking them to hospitals is possible only through proper first aid provided at the spot.
Apart from accidents, first aid training, practice and mock drills are proving very useful in preventing deaths caused by heart attacks, cardiac arrest, unconsciousness, shock, cessation of breathing, gases, smoke, water and debris.
The principals, while expressing their gratitude, said that making children safe, healthy, happy and aware is their first responsibility. In this regard, they are arranging first aid, CPR, fire safety, disaster management and civil defence training for students and teachers through Shri Kaka Ram Verma.
