Chandigarh, November 26 - Haryana Minister of State for Sports Mr. Gaurav Gautam said that the state government is fully committed to providing safe and better sports facilities to the players. The Sports Minister has expressed deep grief over the tragic death of two talented players of the state due to the use of defective sports equipment during training recently. He said that recurrence of such accidents is unacceptable under any circumstances and immediate action is being ensured at the state level for this.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Minister of State for Sports has issued clear instructions to all the district sports officers of the state including Motilal Nehru Sports School Rai (Sonepat), Deputy Director Sports Board Ambala, Hisar, Rohtak and Gurugram to conduct a complete inspection of the buildings and sports equipment located in the sports complexes. He said that any material that is in a bad condition and can pose a threat to the safety of the players should be immediately removed from use.
Minister Mr. Gautam directed the officials to immediately stop the use of any kind of bad sports infrastructure in the sports complexes. He said that the repair of such materials and structures should be done immediately with the money available in the District Sports Council. If the money has already been released by the Sports Headquarters to the Public Works Department or Sports and Digital Fitness Authority of Haryana for the same purpose, then the repair and reconstruction work should be completed immediately by coordinating with the concerned departments.
He also directed that in all the sports complexes of the state, it should be ensured that no bad sports material or building is in use by the players, due to which there is a possibility of any kind of accident. The Minister clearly said that no negligence of any kind will be tolerated in following these instructions. And the concerned officials will be personally responsible for this.
The Minister of State for Sports said that the safety of the players is the top priority of the government. He expressed confidence that with thorough inspection, immediate repairs and vigilance, any such accident can be prevented in the future.
