Safety is ensured not with fire safety certificates or cylinders but with training and mock drills Kaka Ram Verma

Patiala:- Commercial and educational institutions often think that their buildings are completely safe by obtaining fire safety certificates and installing fire extinguisher cylinders on the walls. But real safety is possible only through training, regular practice and mock drills. This idea was expressed by Kaka Ram Verma, Chief Trainer of First Aid, Safety and Health Awareness Mission.
He said that the National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi and the Fire and Emergency Services Authority have recommended conducting training and practice on first aid, fire safety, use of fire extinguisher cylinders, traffic rules, laws and responsibilities twice a year to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
He said that the first two minutes are the most crucial during accidents related to fire, gas leak, electricity or petroleum. If students, teachers and employees have received proper training in advance, then the loss of life and property can be prevented to a large extent.
This information was shared during an awareness program organized at Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala in collaboration with Dr. Rakesh Vermi, President of Dedicated Brothers Group. Under the leadership of Principal Manpreet Sharma, students and teachers were given detailed information about the causes of fire, gas and electricity incidents, different types of fire, proper use of fire extinguisher cylinders, gas leakage in homes, protection from electric current and staying in ventilator position on the ground by tying a wet cloth on the nose and mouth during an emergency, along with helpline numbers.
On this occasion, students who performed excellently during the program were also honored with prizes.
Principal Manpreet Sharma expressed his gratitude and said that trainings like disaster management, first aid and fire safety have become very important in today's time. He said that from time to time, students, teachers, staff members as well as parents will be given training on first aid, CPR, fire safety, use of fire extinguishers, disaster management and civil defense.
