Chandigarh, December 6:- Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini directed that rooftop solar systems should be installed on all government buildings in the state like schools, colleges, hospitals, offices, godowns etc. so that the state can be taken towards greenery.
The Chief Minister was chairing a high-level review meeting of budget announcements related to the energy sector at the Civil Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme and directed the officials to expedite the work of installing rooftop solar systems at every house in the state. He also took information about the monthly achievement figures of the scheme and also directed to ensure effective monitoring and accountability.
Along with this, the Chief Minister directed to develop solar parks for renewable energy on a large scale across the state. He also ordered the immediate removal of old and damaged electricity poles from major roads and highways of the state.
Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited Chairman Shyamal Mishra said that 42,486 rooftop solar installations have been completed in the state by November 20, 2025. A target of installing 2,22,000 rooftop solar systems by March 31, 2027 has been set. The scheme has been sent for approval of the state government and is currently under consideration. Once implemented, the work of installing rooftop solar in the state will increase rapidly and will be of great help in achieving the set RTC targets.
The Chief Minister, while giving instructions in the meeting, said that to ensure uninterrupted power supply to every household in the state, all the targets of the energy sector should be completed within the stipulated time frame. He said that energy security is very important for economic development. Every pending project should be taken forward without delay.
In the meeting, the department officials informed that in Haryana, a target has been set to ensure 24,000 MW of power availability in the next 7 years and provide uninterrupted power supply to 100 times the consumers. The Chief Minister was informed that the work of 800 MW Ultra-Supercritical Thermal Unit in Yamunanagar has started with the help of BHEL.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi, HPGCL MD Dr. Saket Kumar, UHBVN MD Mr. Maniram Sharma and other senior officials of the Power Department and DISCOMs.
