Mahilpur: Member of Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said today that the Punjab Cabinet has taken a historic decision for the welfare of more than 65,000 outsourced, contractual, daily wage, and other temporary employees of the state, which will prove to be a milestone for their bright future. Welcoming the Punjab government's decision, Dr. Chabbewal stated that this is a major initiative to bring employees who have been working under the contractor system for a long time directly under government management and pave the way for their regular employment.
He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has always prioritized the interests of employees, and this is a step towards securing and strengthening the future of thousands of workers. He added that with the Cabinet's approval of new employee-friendly laws, there will be direct communication between the government and the employees, ending the role of contractors. This will provide job security, dignity, and future certainty to outsourced, contractual, and daily wage workers.
Dr. Chabbewal noted that 65,048 employees working in 51 departments of Punjab will come under this policy, while more than 26,000 employees will receive direct benefits in the first phase. It is noteworthy that this decision has brought new hope to employees serving in important departments like Power, Local Government, Education, Transport, Health, Water Supply, and Agriculture. 
He mentioned that making special provisions for fire personnel, linemen, sewer workers, and sanitation workers working in hazardous conditions, by granting eligibility after three years of service, is a tribute to their contribution and will provide great relief to these categories.
He also described the Cabinet's move to reconstitute the sub-committee regarding DA, pension, and salary arrears as an employee-friendly step. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is working with full sincerity to resolve the long-standing demands of the employees. 
He also praised the decision to set up 7 special courts in the state for the speedy trial of corruption cases, saying that this will strengthen the fight against corruption and ensure quick punishment for the guilty. He affirmed that the Bhagwant Mann government is committed to fulfilling every promise made to the people, and these decisions will mark the beginning of a new chapter of good governance, transparency, and employee welfare in Punjab.
 Similarly, under the 'Punjab State Outsourced Personnel (Transition to Contractual Engagement) Bill, 2026', outsourced Group-C and Group-D employees who have completed five years of continuous service will be brought under direct government contractual employment. Employees working in hazardous categories will become eligible after completing three years of service.
