SAS Nagar, October 23- The Shiromani Akali Dal has termed the potential expansion in the boundaries of Mohali Municipal Corporation by the Punjab Government as anti-people. In this regard, the party's district president Shri Parvinder Singh Sohana said that this expansion is being proposed without any planning, in which Balongi and other villages that have been pleading for inclusion in the Municipal Corporation for a long time have been kept out.
He said that this proposal has been issued only with the intention of looting crores of rupees from colonizers through the government's earning son GMADA. He said that the government will collect money from corporate houses and impose the responsibility of developing the new areas on the Municipal Corporation, which is already suffering from economic downturn.
He said that the Municipal Corporation is already a victim of downturn, and the basic needs of the city are not being met. There are heaps of garbage everywhere in the area under the current boundaries. In summer, people have to face water shortage. Parks are in bad condition, and people are yearning for other basic needs and facilities.
In such a situation, instead of providing the necessary facilities to the previous area, this boundary expansion is dust in the eyes of the people, and it is likely to increase people's difficulties further.
He demanded that the government immediately cancel its notification and come up with a new proposal to fulfill the sentiments and needs of the people of the area. In case of not doing so, a widespread struggle will be launched by mobilizing people against the Punjab Government.
