Patiala, August 1:- During the training courses being conducted for newly recruited jail personnel at Punjab Jail Training School, Patiala under the guidance of Principal Mr. Varun Sharma, special training was given on First Aid, CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and saving precious lives in emergency situations.
This training was conducted in a practical manner by Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, Chief Trainer of First Aid Safety Health Awareness Mission and Disaster Management Trainer of the Government of India. He informed the personnel about fainting, emergency due to diabetes, low blood pressure, heart attack, cardiac arrest, head and spinal injuries, internal and external bleeding, epileptic seizures, fire, gas accidents and safe rescue of drowning persons.
He said that in such emergency situations, immediate and proper first aid can save the victim's life. Along with this, he also provided detailed training on ventilation, rescue breathing, CPR, airway obstruction removal method, rescue in case of electric shock and precautions to be taken till reaching the hospital.
Mr. Kaka Ram Verma said that only senior doctors can confirm the death of any victim. Therefore, it is very important to immediately provide proper first aid, recovery position, ABCD (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability) check and provide CPR if necessary to save every victim. He also made the jawans aware about the proper use of emergency helpline numbers.
On this occasion, DSP-cum-Vice Principal Mr. Mukesh Sharma and Chief Drill Inspector Mr. Harimandar thanked Mr. Kaka Ram Verma and said that since 1980, he has been doing commendable work of preparing maximum people in Punjab to help victims by providing First Aid and CPR training to the personnel and officers of the Jail Department, besides the police, commandos, army personnel, employees of schools, colleges, universities, factories, NSS volunteers and Road Safety Police Force personnel.
