Hoshiarpur, September 14:- With the objective of ensuring that patients receive quality, smooth and timely healthcare services at health institutions, Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Mandeep Kamal today conducted supportive supervision through surprise visits to District Hospital Hoshiarpur, PHC Chakowal and CHC Sham Chaurasi. On this occasion, Civil Surgeon’s PA Satpal was also present.
The visit began with a surprise inspection of the Swine Flu Ward at District Hospital Hoshiarpur. The Civil Surgeon, with the assistance of Dr. Neha Pal and District Epidemiologist Dr. Sailesh, closely reviewed the arrangements made for patients in the ward, availability of medicines and other essential supplies, deployment of staff and healthcare facilities. He directed that the availability of essential medicines and necessary supplies to deal with swine flu and other seasonal diseases should be ensured at all times so that patients do not face any kind of difficulty during treatment.
Thereafter, the health institution at PHC Chakowal was visited with the support of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Manpreet. During the visit, the functioning of OPD services, availability of medicines, sanitation arrangements, staff attendance and various health programmes was reviewed. The Civil Surgeon interacted directly with patients to obtain feedback regarding the healthcare services, availability of medicines and other facilities being provided at the institution and also enquired about their problems.
Similarly, a surprise visit was conducted at CHC Sham Chaurasi with the support of SMO Dr. Jatinder Singh Gill, during which the overall functioning of the institution was reviewed. The Civil Surgeon took stock of various healthcare services and arrangements and also interacted with patients. Feedback was obtained from them regarding the quality of healthcare services, availability of medicines and any kind of problem being faced at the institution.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kamal said that the main objective of surprise visits is to review the functioning of health institutions at the grassroots level, bring necessary improvements in healthcare services and provide better facilities to patients. He said that patients are at the centre of the healthcare system and obtaining direct feedback from them helps make healthcare services more effective and people-centric.
He directed the staff of health institutions to give the highest priority to patients’ convenience. He said that high standards of cleanliness should be maintained at the institutions, continuous availability of essential medicines should be ensured and every patient should be provided quality healthcare services without any delay.
