Haroli/Una, March 19 (Rajveer Chopra): A poignant case has emerged from Ghanari village in the Gagret Assembly constituency of Una district. Indu Bala, a 40-year-old resident of Ward No. 6, has been battling a severe ailment—paralysis—for the past 11 years; yet, to this day, she has received no concrete assistance from either the government or the administration.
Indu Bala is the daughter of the late Ram Kishan Chaudhary and has been bedridden since 2015. She has become completely unable to walk or move about. She stated that despite making repeated appeals to the government and the administration for assistance, not a single official has visited her home to assess her condition, nor has any form of contact been established with her to date.
Although some social workers did provide her with financial aid following the publication of a news report, she has yet to receive any support at the government level—including the 'Sahara' pension, free medical treatment, or other basic amenities. Consequently, she is enduring hardships on both mental and physical fronts.
Due to her illness, Indu Bala is also grappling with issues such as loss of appetite, weight fluctuations, and depression. She is currently undergoing treatment in Nalagarh, a journey she must undertake every 10 days to procure her medication. Each visit for treatment incurs an expense of approximately ?2,000—a financial burden she finds increasingly difficult to bear.
Indu Bala has appealed to the government and the local administration to take cognizance of her plight and provide her with financial assistance, a pension, and free medical facilities as soon as possible, so that she may lead a life of dignity.
