Hoshiarpur: Addressing a large gathering of women here today, Dr. Ishank Kumar, MLA from the Chabbewal Assembly constituency, stated that the Aam Aadmi Party government has taken a historic step towards the economic empowerment of women by implementing the 'Mavan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana' (Mothers-Daughters Honor Scheme), thereby fulfilling yet another major guarantee.
Speaking at the event held in Chabbewal, Dr. Ishank Kumar remarked that today marks a historic day for Punjab regarding women's welfare, as the state government has honored its promise to women. He stated that under the 'Mavan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana', the honorarium amount would be directly transferred to the bank accounts of eligible women within the next 24 hours.
He informed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government is transferring three months' worth of honorarium into women's accounts in a single installment. Under this initiative, ?4,500 will be deposited into the accounts of women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category, while ?3,000 will be deposited into the accounts of other eligible women. He added that beneficiaries would also receive mobile notifications confirming the deposit. This honorarium will provide a new direction for both the self-respect and economic strengthening of women.
Dr. Ishank Kumar described the Punjab government's decision as historic, noting that it would benefit lakhs of women across the state. He mentioned that women already receiving social security pensions are also eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.
He informed that 50,166 women from the Chabbewal Assembly constituency have been registered so far and will soon receive the scheme's benefits. The honorarium will be sent directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts, and more than 95 percent of women in the state are expected to benefit from this scheme.
He also appealed to women who have not yet registered to do so as soon as possible. He assured that eligible women who register late would still receive the scheme's benefits retrospectively, starting from the initial date. It is noteworthy that a total of 178,776 women in Hoshiarpur district will benefit from this scheme. This includes 112,799 women from the general category and 65,977 from the Scheduled Caste category. Amounts of ?33.84 crore and ?29.69 crore will be transferred to their accounts, respectively, within the next 24 hours. Thus, a total honorarium of ?63.53 crore is being provided to the women of the district.
Dr. Ishank Kumar stated that the Chabbewal Assembly constituency has recorded the highest number of registrations among women across the entire Hoshiarpur district. He also commended the women working as 'Sakhis' in the area for their efforts in this regard.
The women present at the event expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and also highly praised MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar. They remarked that they consider themselves fortunate to have an MLA who works with such dedication and commitment to ensure that the benefits of every government scheme reach the people promptly.
