Hoshiarpur- On the demand of the Punjab government, former MP Avinash Rai Khanna has recommended to the central government to give the status of national highway to Balachaur-Hoshiarpur-Dasuha road. Jyoti Kumar Jolly from Khanna’s office said that the Punjab government has received a memorandum from Ravi Bhagat, State Secretary of the Public Works Department (B&R), to declare Balachaur-Hoshiarpur-Dasuha road as a national highway.
In this letter, the central government has been appealed to declare this road as a national highway. Khanna has sent this memorandum to the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for the convenience of the people and has recommended to declare Balachaur-Hoshiarpur-Dasuha road as a national highway soon.
It may be recalled that Khanna has met Nitin Gadkari many times before, taking the initiative on this matter himself, and at that time Gadkari had said that this is State Highway 24.
And until there is an official request from the Punjab government in this regard, no action can be taken by the Centre. Now that the Punjab government has demanded to declare this road as a national highway, Khanna said that it is hoped that the Centre will take action in this regard soon.
