Patiala:- Rising heat, heatwaves, and intense heat can lead to an increase in deaths due to outbreaks of fire, electrical short circuits, sunstroke, brain hemorrhage, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, fainting, blood pressure fluctuations, and drops in sugar levels. Therefore, under such conditions, in order to protect children, the elderly, laborers, farmers, buildings, vehicles, animals, and birds, we must all prepare ourselves to act as guardian angels by undertaking training in disaster management, civil defense, first aid, CPR, fire safety, and firefighting.
These views were shared by Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, Chief Trainer of the First Aid Safety Health Awareness Mission and retired Red Cross Training Officer, and ASI Ram Saran from the Traffic Education Cell. While providing information to students and teachers at the PM Shri Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, Sanour, on precautions to protect oneself and others over the next 4 months, they advised consuming maximum water, lemon water (shikanjvi), buttermilk (lassi), and sattu. Special measures should be taken to prevent cholera, dehydration, and shock. While going out in the sun, keep your head, neck, and face covered. Two-wheeler riders must use a helmet because 30 to 40 minutes of direct sunlight on the head and neck during the afternoon can cause sunstroke, brain hemorrhage, fainting, shock, or a heart attack.
They further stated that fires break out in shops, homes, vehicles, factories, and institutions due to electrical short circuits. They provided information about the types of fires, firefighting methods, and helpline numbers. Principal Dr. Karamjit Kaur, Mrs. Harvinder Kaur, Dr. Sonia Chahal, Inderpreet Kaur, Nisha Goyal, and Campus Manager Surinder Singh expressed their gratitude, stating that in accordance with the orders of the District Education Officer (Secondary) Patiala and the National Human Rights Commission, students are being made aware of how to protect themselves from seasonal, natural, and man-made disasters, and how to assist victims during emergencies.
