Chandigarh, September 11:- Haryana Minister of State for Sports, Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, Shri Gaurav Gautam, attended a programme organized in Sonipat on Friday as the chief guest and flagged off a cycle rally. During the event, he hoisted a 100-foot-high towering Tricolour at the SAI Centre Complex and also unveiled a statue of Bharat Mata at the SAI Complex. He also felicitated the archery and Sepak Takraw players leaving for Japan by presenting them with flowers and extended his best wishes for their bright future.
Minister of State Shri Gaurav Gautam said that the statue of Bharat Mata and the towering Tricolour installed at the SAI Centre Complex would strengthen the spirit of patriotism among the players and continuously inspire them to uphold the glory of the nation. He said that Haryana's players have brought glory to the country and the state at the international level through their talent and hard work.
Referring to the outstanding performance of Haryana's daughters in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games, he said that the state's women athletes performed exceptionally well and played an important role in moving Haryana directly from 12th place to fourth place in the medal standings. He said that he was fully confident that every player from Haryana would earn pride for the country through talent, dedication and hard work.
He extended his best wishes to the archery and Sepak Takraw players leaving to participate in the 20th Asian Games to be held in Japan and wished them an excellent performance. Encouraging the players, he said that they should participate in the competition with full confidence and bring glory to the country and the state. He also thanked the SAI officials and coaches for providing the players with better training and facilities.
