Chandigarh, June 1:- The Haryana Government has taken a historic and very important decision, giving a huge relief to the trading community. For the permanent and immediate settlement of the long pending tax cases of the traders of the state, the government has officially decided to implement the ‘Lump Sum Settlement Scheme-2026’. With this step of the government, the business community of the state will be able to get rid of court cases and old tax disputes forever, which will further boost the ease of doing business in the state.
A government spokesperson, while giving detailed information about the operation and time limit of this scheme, said that this special relief scheme will be effectively implemented starting today i.e. 1 June 2026 and will remain in effect till 28 September 2026. He also emphasized that this policy of the Haryana Government has been extremely popular and successful among the traders in the past, which is a clear proof that in the year 2025, a record 1,15,223 traders of the state had taken full advantage of this scheme and resolved their old tax disputes. The government has made even more liberal and simple rules this time regarding the financial relief to be given to small and big taxpayers. Underlining the most important aspect of this scheme, the spokesperson said that the small taxpayers who have tax due up to Rs 1 lakh in any financial year, their tax, interest and penalty will be waived automatically without any application, that is, they will not need to visit any office. Along with this, the government has made a very good arrangement of tax exemption of up to 70 percent in the cases of traders whose dues are more than Rs 1 lakh under the Haryana General Sales Tax Act, 1973.
The spokesperson further said that many other big facilities have been added to it to provide financial support to the traders. In all the eligible cases coming under this scheme, traders will be given a huge exemption of 100 percent in interest and penalty, due to which their huge liabilities of years will be reduced to a great extent. Not only this, keeping in mind the cash problem and practical difficulties of the traders, the government has also given a big relief that they will be able to pay their final settlement amount in easy installments instead of paying it at once.
This decision of the government is not for any limited area, but its scope has been kept very wide. Under this entire scheme, settlement of all pending cases coming under a total of 7 tax acts of the Haryana Government will be ensured. The Haryana government considers the traders of its state as the backbone of the country's economic progress, and according to the spokesperson, this 'Lump Sum Settlement Scheme-2026' will provide a golden opportunity to the traders of the state to move forward without any hindrance by freeing them from the mental and financial burden of old taxes. The government has appealed to all the eligible traders to take advantage of this scheme before September 28, while there is still time.
