Chandigarh, February 11:- The Haryana Government has approved the purchase of micro medical supplies worth Rs 2.39 crore, which includes 25 slit lamps, 140 radiant warmers, 60 LED phototherapy units and 1575 plastic molded pallets. This will provide better health facilities to patients across the state and strengthen healthcare infrastructure. These supplies will be supplied to civil hospitals and neonatal care units, which will increase the convenience of diagnosis, treatment and storage in government health institutions.
This decision was taken in a meeting of the Special Standing Care Committee (SSC) under the chairmanship of Dr. Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana Health and Family Welfare Department. This purchase will be made under a two-year rate contract, which also includes maintenance support for uninterrupted operation of the equipment.
Dr. Mishra informed that 25 slit lamps will be purchased at a cost of about Rs. 74 lakh, which will be installed in the ophthalmology department of civil hospitals so that timely identification and treatment of eye diseases can be ensured through these equipment. 140 radiant warmers will be purchased at a cost of about Rs. 82 lakh for the care of newborns, which will help in maintaining the right body temperature of newborns immediately after birth and reduce the risk of complications.
Apart from this, 60 LED phototherapy units worth Rs. 32 lakh will be used for the treatment of neonatal jaundice, which is a common but serious disease in newborns.
To improve logistics and storage capacity, 1575 plastic moulded pallets worth Rs. 51 lakh will be made available to the HMYCL warehouse. This will improve safe storage and inventory management of medicines and medical supplies. Dr. Mishra said that this initiative is an important step towards strengthening the public health system of Haryana, which will directly benefit the patients, especially newborns and eye patients, with quality healthcare services.
