Hoshiarpur- In a press note issued by senior BJP leader and Cabinet Minister Tikshan Sood, it has been stated that in many places in Punjab, the recent rainfall, strong winds and hailstorm have caused heavy damage to farmers’ crops. The fully ripened wheat crop has been flattened to the ground and vegetable crops have also suffered heavy losses. 
He said that during the last rainy season, the severe floods had caused massive losses to farmers. In return for that, the government had made big promises, but the compensation for that damage has not been provided yet.
Regarding the present loss, the government should take the matter seriously and compensate the farmers for their losses. He has demanded from the government that immediate orders should be issued to conduct girdawari of the damaged crops and that the farmers should be given compensation for their losses within a fixed time frame.
