Chandigarh, July 29:- Haryana Government's Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Mr. Shyam Singh Rana has appealed to the farmers of the state to get the tubewell water of their fields tested regularly. He said, "What kind of water will we test, there will be no crop production but only damage".
Mr. Rana said that the quality of irrigation water directly affects crop production and yield. High salinity (salt content) and salinity in water can have a negative impact on the fertility and production capacity of the soil. By testing tubewell water on time, farmers can choose the right crop and manage manure and fertilizers properly and in a balanced manner.
The Agriculture Minister, while explaining the correct method of taking water samples from tubewells to the farmers, said that farmers should take water samples only after running the tubewell continuously for at least 30 minutes. For this, fill about 500 ml (or 1 liter) of water in a clean plastic bottle. On the bottle, the farmer should clearly write his name, MFMB (My Crop-My Information) ID, village name, fort/measles number, mobile number and depth of borewell (in feet). Farmers can submit this prepared sample to their nearest soil health testing laboratory (Soil Testing Lab). The Agriculture Minister has appealed to the farmers to select crops only on the basis of the test report and adopt proper management of irrigation water.
