Hoshiarpur: A special meeting of the Punjab Pensioners Welfare Association, Tehsil Hoshiarpur, was held at Mini Sakrate, Hoshiarpur, under the chairmanship of President Shamsher Singh Dhami. Chairman Sanjeev Arora, President JB Bahl, Ashwani Dutta, Prof. Daljit Singh, and Jasbir Kanwar were present on behalf of Rotary Eye Bank to specifically raise awareness among pensioners about eye donation.
On this occasion, President JB Bahl explained the process of eye donation and posthumous eye donation, stating that if a loved one dies, all you need to do is call any member of the society, and the society members will arrive at your home with a team of expert doctors. The eye donation process is completed within 15-20 minutes.
Chairman Sanjeev Arora explained that posthumous eye donations can be made within 6 to 8 hours. Due to which the eyes donated by one person bring light to the dark lives of two persons, and Mr. Arora said that it is not necessary that only the person who has filled the eye donation pledge form can donate his eyes, even if the person who has not filled the pledge form can donate his eyes.
And Mr. Arora appealed to the pensioners to come forward and fill the eye donation pledge form so that more efforts can be made to eliminate blindness from the country. And it is up to you to decide whether you want to brighten two dark lives by donating your eyes after death or turn them into two pinches of ashes.
On this occasion, Ashwini Dutta and Prof. Diljeet Singh also addressed and provided detailed information about the new law related to driving license.
Punjab Pensioners Welfare President Shamsher Singh thanked the society and said that he will continue to make his members aware about eye donation from time to time and for those members who want to fill the eye donation pledge form, a program will be organized soon in coordination with the society.
