Chandigarh, October 30 - Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Mr. Shyam Singh Rana directed the officials to explore the possibilities of direct sowing in maximum number of crops in the state so that the expenditure on water for irrigation and ploughing can be saved, this will also reduce the cost of preparing the crop of the farmer.
Mr. Rana was chairing a review meeting of the budget announcements and the promises of the government's resolution paper related to agriculture, horticulture, Haryana State Warehouse Corporation Limited and Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board here today.
While reviewing the Mera Pani Meri Virasat Yojana, the Agriculture Minister said that the amount of water is limited, therefore farmers should be encouraged to grow crops that can be produced with less water. He directed to prepare a special action plan for the farmers of the hilly area of ??Morni in Panchkula district so that the farmers can get their good harvest in the small sloping areas. He also said that in Haryana there are active sand dunes, in some places there are hilly areas and in some places there is flat land. Considering a particular area, the possibilities of changing the plan for the farmers of that area should be considered, provided that the farmer gets maximum benefit.
The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, while reviewing the schemes on the completion of one year of the present state government, emphasized on making the schemes women-oriented. He directed to implement the scheme of providing interest-free loans of up to Rs. 1 lakh to women expeditiously.
He inquired about the status of construction of godowns in various districts of the state as per the announcements made in the budget with the officials of Haryana State Warehouse Corporation Limited and directed to expedite the work in this direction. He also directed to explore the possibilities of planting saplings that thrive in saline water in the flood-affected areas.
Mr. Shyam Singh Rana also sought responses regarding making the markets related to Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board online, establishing a flower market in Gurugram and facilitating farmers in selling paddy.
He directed the horticulture officers to formulate a horticulture policy as soon as possible, and also reviewed the announcements like establishing 3 proposed excellence centers and directed to expedite all the above works.
On this occasion, the meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Chief Administrator of Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board Mr. Mukesh Kumar Ahuja, Director of Agriculture Department Mr. Rajnarayan Kaushik, Managing Director of Haryana State Warehouse Corporation Limited Dr. Shaleen and other senior officers.
