Karnal, July 25: Congress State General Secretary Ramesh Saini described the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan—following a 31-day-long agitation by the CGP—as a victory for democracy and the Constitution. He noted that this is the first time in the last 12 years that a minister in the Modi government has had to resign due to a public movement. This is a triumph for the Indian Constitution.
He remarked that the way the nation's youth united to launch a student movement demanding educational reforms evoked memories of the freedom struggle. The spirit of great revolutionaries like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Mahatma Phule was visible among the male students, while the inspiration of great figures like Maharani Lakshmibai and Savitribai Phule was clearly evident among the female students.
Ramesh Saini stated that this movement has proven there is no room for oppression in a democracy. The students conducted their protest with immense patience and in a peaceful manner, refusing to bow down to any form of suppression. Ultimately, through their unity, they compelled the government to yield.
He noted that the echoes of the student movement were heard across the country, with youth everywhere appearing resolute in their commitment to the cause. For the first time, a movement was seen rising above the barriers of caste, religion, and regionalism. He congratulated all the students on the success of the movement.
