Fatehabad, 30 July:- Under the auspices of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, district level youth competitions were organized on Thursday at MM College, Fatehabad. The main objective of this program organized under 'My Bharat' initiative was to increase awareness among youth towards drug de-addiction and to provide a strong platform to their creative talents. The main theme of the program was 'Drug-free Youth, Developed India'. Founder of Mahashakti Charitable Trust and Nashamukti Sena, Bhawani Singh participated as the chief guest in the program, while District Youth Officer Reena Kesaria was present as special guest. College Principal Dr. Gurcharan Das presided over the program and welcomed all the guests.
During the competitions, in the debate organized, students from across the district discussed in depth why today's youth is falling prey to drugs and what steps should be taken to avoid it. Impressed by the ideas of the students, Chief Guest Bhawani Singh said that today's youth is the future of the country and it is our collective responsibility to secure their future and save them from drugs. He said in strong words that drugs are eating away our young generation like termites. If the youth themselves wake up, discuss drugs openly and strongly oppose those who sell drugs, only then our country will remain safe. He called upon the students to take a pledge from here today that they will play a leading role in this campaign to save society, country and their families.
Praising the Central Government's 'My Bharat' initiative, Bhawani Singh said that the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh is working very seriously against drugs. Such events are playing an important role in giving right direction to the youth and making positive use of their energy. During the program, students from various schools across the district showcased their talent. Competitions included folk song, group dance, street play/skit, painting, debate and speech, short film/reel and slogan writing. Through street plays and reels, students highlighted the ill-effects of drugs and appealed for building a drug-free society. On this occasion, Dr. Meenakshi Kohli, Rajesh Bishnoi, Gurdeep Ayalki, Krishna Parcha, Vijay Mohan, Sumit, Aman Bhadolanwali, Pawan Bishnoi, Sanjay Kumar, Sajan, Mahi Malya Bhadolawali, Azad Bhadolawali, Kuldeep Ranga, Dharambir, Pawan Ranga, Ashwini Godara, Devendra Singh Godara, Mohit Barar, Harpal, Pawan, Robin Manjhu, Dharampal and many other dignitaries were present.
