Haryana/Hisar: Following the instructions of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, the District Congress Committee Hisar (Rural) organized awareness programs in various Gram Panchayats regarding issues related to MNREGA. These programs were led by the Honorable Shri Brijlal Bahbalpuria, President of the District Congress Committee Hisar (Rural).
On January 27, 2026 (Tuesday), in the villages of Gangwa, Sarsana, Nyoli Kala, Dandhur, Jhiri, and Patan under Hisar district (rural), the Congress party interacted with MNREGA workers, listened to their problems, and raised awareness against the central government's anti-MNREGA policies.
On this occasion, Brijlal Bahbalpuria said that the Modi government is continuously weakening MNREGA, a lifeline scheme for the poor. While there was previously a legal guarantee of 100 days of work, today workers are not getting both work and wages on time. The rights of the workers are being directly attacked.
He said that MNREGA is not just an employment scheme, but the backbone of the poor, laborers, and the rural economy, but the BJP government has adopted a path to almost eliminate it by cutting the budget. The rights of the Panchayats are being snatched away, and local employment opportunities are being eliminated.
During the programs, resolutions were passed through Gram Sabhas demanding that:
The guarantee of work under MNREGA should be increased to more than 100 days.
The wage rate should be increased to a minimum of Rs. 400 per day.
Timely payment of wages should be ensured.
Full rights should be given to the Panchayats.
Brijlal Bahbalpuria said that the Congress party will continue its struggle in every village to save MNREGA and protect the rights of the workers, and if needed, the movement will be taken from the streets to the Parliament.
These programs were attended by HPCC member and former Barwala candidate Bhupendra Singh Gangwa, District Women's President Santosh Joon, senior leader Krishna Duggal, women's leader Saroj Sheoran, Ramesh Chahar, Gangwa village Sarpanch Bhagwan Das, Sarpanch Sultan Singh, Nyoli Kalan Sarpanch Rajbir Singh, Ishwar Singh Gangwa, Surender Kumar Gangwa, Rameshwar Kumar Gangwa, Suman, Sumitra, Guddi Devi, Shakuntala, Ramkumar Jangra of Sarsana, Mahavir of Sarsana, Smt.
