Chandigarh, October 31 - In a program organized at the Secretariat on the occasion of National Unity Day, Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini paid tribute to the Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Chief Minister also administered the oath of office to the officers and employees present to maintain national unity, integrity and security.
Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini in his address said that Iron Man Sardar Patel was a true symbol of national unity and the architect of a united India. After independence, he strengthened the foundation of the country with his efficient administrative capacity as the first Home Minister of India. At that time, the country was divided into hundreds of princely states and dynasties, but Sarkar Patel laid the foundation stone of a united India and national unity by getting 562 princely states into the Indian Union.
Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini said that today India is on the path of becoming a superpower of the world, the foundation of which was laid by Sardar Patel. His dream of an integrated India was realized by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi by removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister has done the work of keeping Sardar Patel alive for ages by constructing the Statue of Unity in Narmada district of Gujarat.
The Chief Minister said that we all should take inspiration from the life of Sardar Patel and remain dedicated to the unity, integrity and security of the country. He said that this day is not only an opportunity to remember a great man, but it is also a day for us all to reiterate the concept of One India, Shrestha Bharat. The Chief Minister, while greeting all the officers and employees on the occasion of National Unity Day, took an oath to dedicate themselves to the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
In the program, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Rastogi paid tribute to Sardar Patel, the unique architect of the unity and integrity of the nation, and said that Sardar Patel, in difficult circumstances, by using his mind and strong commitments, united 562 princely states and worked to make India a united India.
There has hardly been a person in the history of the world who has united such a large number of princely states without any bloodshed. Shri Rastogi said that Sardar Patel's life was a symbol of sacrifice, dedication and determination. Sardar Patel wanted to build an India where the administrative structure is based on discipline, responsibility and service. He described the concept of Indian Administrative Service as the basic pillar of nation-building.
Commissioner and Secretary, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department Dr. Amit Agarwal welcomed the Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini and said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played an important role in strengthening the foundation of the administrative system of independent India. He united India politically by integrating the princely states of the country and established a strong central administration.
Under his visionary leadership, all-India services like Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service made a significant contribution to the smooth running of the governance and law and order of the country. With his efforts, India emerged as a strong, organized and administratively capable nation.
