Chandigarh, August 2: To further strengthen the nationwide campaign against substance abuse, the NSS department of Rayat Bahra University organized an awareness program under the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' (Drug-Free India Campaign) in its adopted villages and schools, centered on the theme "A Drug-Free India is the hallmark of a Developed India." This campaign was conducted under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Providing details, Prof. (Major) A.S. Chahal, Director of NCC/NSS, stated that the program was organized under the leadership of Rayat Bahra University Chairman Gurvinder Singh Bahra and Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar. He noted that the objective of the program was to sensitize the youth to the adverse effects of substance abuse and to inspire them to adopt a healthy, responsible, and drug-free lifestyle.
During the event, NSS volunteer Jashanpreet Kaur addressed the students, elaborating on the physical, mental, social, and academic consequences of drug abuse. She urged the students not to succumb to peer pressure leading to substance use, to make informed decisions, and to become ambassadors for a drug-free society by spreading awareness among their families, friends, and the community.
At the conclusion of the program, NSS volunteers and school students organized an impactful awareness rally. Through slogans such as "Say No to Drugs," "Quit Drugs, Save Punjab," and "Healthy Youth, Prosperous India," the participants encouraged people to stay away from drugs and embrace a healthy lifestyle.
The program concluded successfully under the guidance and supervision of Prof. (Major) A.S. Chahal. The university administration expressed confidence that such awareness campaigns would continue in the future to inspire youth toward building a drug-free, healthy, and responsible society.
