Chandigarh, 28 January 2026:- The Department of Anatomy at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has received another inspiring body donation. 89-year-old Shri Surinder Singh (son of Shri Sher Singh), resident of Village & Post Office Parhol, District S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, passed away on 28 January 2026. Following his demise, his mortal body was donated on the same day by his family members to the Department of Anatomy at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh.
This body donation was carried out with the consent of his nephew Shri Sukhminder Singh, grandson Shri Dilpreet Singh, and other family members. The Anatomy Department of the institute paid tribute to the departed soul for this noble and extremely useful decision for humanity and expressed gratitude to the family members.
Institute officials stated that body donation is an invaluable contribution to the field of medical education and research, which greatly assists in the training of future doctors and the advancement of medical science. Such virtuous acts strengthen the spirit of service, compassion, and human welfare in society.
The administration of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research has also appealed to the general public to become aware of this greatest donation and come forward.
