Chandigarh:- Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal did not appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the 2015 Behbal Kalan firing case. Badal had been summoned to appear before the SIT at the Punjab Police Officers Institute in Sector 32.
However, Param Bans Singh Romana and Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kaler met the SIT officials on his behalf at around 11 a.m. In a written request, Sukhbir Singh Badal cited his ill health as the reason for not appearing before the SIT. Badal said he was unable to appear because he needed to visit a doctor for a medical check-up. Besides this, he cited his engagements in public rallies and public outreach programmes across the state and sought time until September 30.
