Patiala, April 6 - Madam Kanchan, Additional District Magistrate, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act No. 2 of 1974), has issued an order that the Municipal Committees, Town Any person living under the jurisdiction of Panchayats and villages must ensure to register complete details of tenant/servant/paying guest in his/her house with the nearest police station/outpost.
The prohibition order states that due to the proximity of district Patiala to Chandigarh and Haryana and presence of industry there, many people from other states and outlying districts come for employment/work etc. Apart from this, students/trainees coming from other states for studies in other educational institutions/institutions, persons engaged in various professions/businesses as paying guests and service staff in call centers are also staying on rent. Many of these people go back after committing crimes and it becomes difficult to trace them. Landlords do not register information about these tenants with the police, due to which there is a fear of law and order being disturbed. These orders will remain in force till June 5.
