
Project SARTHI Expands Nationwide: A Movement of Compassion and Care at PGIMER

During her visit to PGIMER, Ms. Meeta Rajivlochan, IAS, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, announced significant developments in Project SARTHI, which has expanded to 250 hospitals across 25 states and aims to reach over 700 hospitals soon. She highlighted the project's transformation from a simple idea proposed by DDA PGIMER, Mr. Pankaj Rai, into a national movement that enhances patient care through the dedicated efforts of NSS volunteers.
Ms. Rajivlochan emphasized the project's ability to foster positivity, build self-esteem, and empower individuals in a demanding healthcare environment where around 20,000 patients are served daily. By streamlining care through volunteer support, the initiative is laying the groundwork for a more compassionate and efficient healthcare system. During the event, the Secretary underscored the need for structured systems and shared learning to ensure the sustainable expansion of Project SARTHI.
She encouraged volunteers to document their experiences on the "Mera Yuva Bharat" platform, promising that those who complete 120 hours of service would receive experiential learning certificates. Prof. Vivek Lal, Director of PGIMER, acknowledged the project’s impact, particularly on underprivileged patients, and commended the student volunteers for their invaluable support.
He remarked on how a simple idea has snowballed into a meaningful movement, making a real difference in people's lives. The event concluded with a ceremony recognizing the efforts of the volunteers through certificate distribution.
