
District SAS Nagar Police averted sensational crime; two henchmen of foreign based terrorist/gangster Goldy Brar arrested.
SAS Nagar, April 12: A major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against organised crime launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadava was achieved when district SAS Nagar Police averted a sensational crime by arresting two henchmen of foreign based gangster turned terrorist Goldy Brar following an exchange of fire near railway under-bridge situated on Ambala-Dera Bassi Highway, said Shri Deepak Pareekh IPS, SSP SAS Nagar, here on Saturday.
SAS Nagar, April 12: A major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against organised crime launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadava was achieved when district SAS Nagar Police averted a sensational crime by arresting two henchmen of foreign based gangster turned terrorist Goldy Brar following an exchange of fire near railway under-bridge situated on Ambala-Dera Bassi Highway, said Shri Deepak Pareekh IPS, SSP SAS Nagar, here on Saturday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Kartik Singh alias Ravi, resident of Naraingarh, Ambala, Haryana and Deepak alias Deepu, resident of Jagadhari, Haryana, who are presently staying in Dera Bassi.
SSP Deepak Pareek further informed that the duo was tasked to fire at the Immigration Office situated at College Road, Dera Bassi on the instructions of their handlers Goldy Brar and Bhanu Rana. "Acting on credible/specific inputs, police teams successfully intercepted and apprehended them before they could attack/target the victim," the SSP said.
Giving more details, the SSP said that the Goldy Brar gang had thrown a pamphlet at the Immigration Office demanding a ransom of Rs 50 lakh, while in response, FIR No. 89 dated 10-04-2025 under Sections 308(2), 351(1), and 351(3) of the IPC was registered at Police Station Dera Bassi. He informed that on the instructions of DIG Ropar Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar, a special team was constituted to trace and apprehend the accused. Under the supervision of SP Rural Manpreet Singh and DSP Dera Bassi Bikramjit Singh Brar, the team collected clues and CCTV footage from the area which led to the identification of one of the accused. Giving operational details, the SSP said, "Today, information was received about the two that they were planning to carry out an attack. Acting swiftly, a trap was laid near railway under-bridge on Ambala-Dera Bassi highway to intercept and apprehend them. During the operation, the accused opened fire on the police team in an attempt to evade arrest. In retaliation, accused Ravi sustained bullet injuries in his left leg. A .32 calibre pistol along with four cartridges has also been recovered," he said.
The SSP further said that preliminary investigation revealed that both the arrested accused had come in contact with gangster-turned-terrorist Goldy Brar through one Bhanu Rana, a native of Yamunanagar, who currently resides in the USA.
"The same gang had also targeted this immigration office in September 2024," the SSP said. A fresh FIR was registered on 12-04-2025 under Section 103 of BNS and Section 25(6)(7) of Arms Act. SAS A case has been registered at Lalru police station in Dera Bassi area of ??the city. The SSP said further investigation is underway.
