
Various assistive devices worth Rs 7.26 lakh distributed to 52 eligible disabled persons - Deputy Commissioner
Una, November 21 - Under the joint aegis of District Red Cross Society Una and Indian Artificial Limb Manufacturing Company, Chandigarh, 92 types of assistive devices worth Rs 7 lakh 26 thousand 802 were distributed to 52 eligible disabled persons at Town Hall Una to enable them to live their lives easily.
Una, November 21 - Under the joint aegis of District Red Cross Society Una and Indian Artificial Limb Manufacturing Company, Chandigarh, 92 types of assistive devices worth Rs 7 lakh 26 thousand 802 were distributed to 52 eligible disabled persons at Town Hall Una to enable them to live their lives easily. Were distributed. The assistive devices distributed include motor tri-cycle, tricycle, wheelchair, hearing aid, walking stick, mobility aid and artificial limb along with m-smartphone. Giving information about this, District Red Cross Society President and Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma said that the disabled people to whom assistive devices were distributed had previously undergone disability assessment by Alimco Company. On this basis, assistive devices have been provided to the eligible disabled people who were evaluated today.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the distributed assistive devices will make it easier for the disabled people of the district to live their daily lives. Apart from this, he said that eligible disabled people have been selected through disability assessment camps in all the sub-divisions of the district. He said that in the coming time, assistive devices worth about Rs 28 lakh will be distributed to the eligible disabled people in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said that during this period, 32 disabled people registered for free training for various courses being conducted at the National Career Centre. He said that at the National Career Center Una, disabled people are given free training in dress making, general electronics, computer applications, general mechanic and automobile mechanic. He said that at present 60 disabled trainees are taking training in various trades at the National Career Centre, who are being given a stipend of Rs 2,500 per month per disabled person.
On this occasion, former MLA Una Satpal Singh Raizada said that in today's time there is neither dearth of facilities nor opportunities for the disabled. Disabled people are achieving remarkable achievements in the field of sports along with normal occupations and tasks of life. He said that the state government has always been making efforts to help the disabled people. He said that so that disability does not become a curse, assistive devices are being provided to the disabled people as per requirement.
On this occasion, SDM Una Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan, Tehsildar Husar Chand, BDC Chairman Yashpal, Nominated Councilor MC Mehatpur Rahul Airi and other dignitaries were present.
