S.A.S. Nagar, May 31- CIA staff of Mohali Police raided the office of Mandeep Singh, resident of village Raipur Kalan, Chandigarh, who works as a property dealer on Baltana-Raipur Road and recovered a .32 bore pistol and 5 rounds from him.
Giving information in this regard, SP (Investigation) Saurav Jindal said that this person has been caught during the campaign launched against anti-social elements as per the instructions of SSP Shri Harmandeep Singh Hans. He informed that police party of CIA staff was present near Baltana Chowki, and during this time ASI Jatinder Singh of CIA staff received information from an informer that Mandeep Singh, resident of village Raipur Kalan, Chandigarh, who works as a property dealer, has illegal weapon. It was also reported that Mandeep Singh has opened a property dealer's office on Baltana-Raipur Road and he is present in his office with his illegal weapon, and if a raid is conducted there, illegal weapons can be recovered from him.
He said that on the basis of the information received, a case was registered against Mandeep Singh at Zirakpur police station under section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act and he was arrested from his office on Baltana-Raipur Road, from where an illegal pistol of .32 bore and 5 live rounds were recovered from him.
He said that Mandeep Singh, resident of village Raipur Kalan, is about 35 years old. He is a 10th class pass and is married. No case has been registered against Mandeep earlier, but his brother Hardeep Singh is lodged in Nabha jail in a drug smuggling case.
He said that the accused is on police remand and he is being questioned as to from whom and for what purpose he had purchased this illegal pistol.
