S.A.S. Nagar, May 31- Instead of providing underground power supply facility in the prestigious Aero City project built by GMADA, PSPCL is now erecting pillars for power supply there, due to which the residents here are angry.
Kuldeep Singh, president of the Resident Welfare Association here, said that for the last few days, PSPCL has been erecting pillars for power supply above the ground in G and E blocks. He said that the Punjab government had planned to provide all the services of the Aero City project - electricity, water, sewerage etc. - underground, and people had bought their plots in Aero City at very high rates.
He said that this was the first project of the Punjab government with underground power supply, and GMADA had built it only a few years ago. GMADA had assured the allottees of underground power supply while selling the plots, but now PSPCL is ruining the beauty of the entire Aero City by erecting overhead pillars above the ground, which the residents of Aero City are strongly opposing.
He said that this is a major violation of the Aero City Master Plan of Mohali. He said that when the residents asked PSPCL officials about this, they were told that the power department neither has the necessary technical equipment nor the required funds to operate the underground power supply.
He said that this temporary power supply will ruin the beauty of the entire Aero City. He said that PSPCL is doing only temporary and very low level work, and wires and their joints are visible on many roads.
He demanded that this action by PSPCL, which is tarnishing the beauty of Aero City in this way, should be stopped and underground power supply should be provided as per the master plan.
