
Cross-border smuggling: Three arrested with 1 kg heroin and Rs 45.19 lakh drug money; Case registered at Verka police station, Amritsar.
Amritsar, May 17- Taking action against a nexus of drug peddlers, Commissionerate Police, Amritsar has arrested three accused and busted two separate smuggling networks. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that 1.01 kg heroin, Rs 45.19 lakh drug money and a cash counting machine have been recovered from the accused.

The accused have been identified as Rahul Singh alias Kalu (20) of Thathi Sohal, Tarn Taran, Gurmukh Singh (21) of village Sudhar Rajput, Amritsar and Varinderpal Singh (32) of village Akalgarh Dhapaiya, Amritsar.
The DGP said that two separate FIRs under the NDPS Act have been registered at police stations – Gate Hakima and Verka. He said that further investigation is being conducted to trace the entire smuggling module.
Sharing details of the first operation, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that police teams of CIA-2 arrested accused Rahul alias Kalu from his rented house in Anand Vihar, Amritsar, along with 510 grams of heroin, drug money worth Rs 30.18 lakh and a cash counting machine.
He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that accused Rahul was in touch with foreign-based drug smuggler Tony German and was supplying heroin locally after receiving the consignment from across the border. A case has been registered in this regard at police station Gate Hakima, Amritsar, under sections 21-C and 25 of the NDPS Act.
In the second operation, the police team of Verka police station arrested Gurmukh Singh and Varinder Pal Singh and recovered 500 grams of heroin, drug money worth Rs 15.19 lakh and a toy drone with a camera from them. They said that the accused had made a bed-box (secret locker) in a house located in village Akalgarh, from where this drug money was recovered. They said that the accused were using the toy drone as a practice.
Further investigation in this regard is underway and more arrests and recoveries are likely in the coming days.
