
Awareness seminar organized under the campaign "War Against Drugs"

Municipal Council member Harpreet Singh Bhandari, Dr. Saroj of Primary Health Center Gharuan and Block Extension Teacher Gautam Rishi, School Principal Gurpinder Kaur, Police SHO Balwinder Singh, SMC Committee Chairman Inderjit Singh, Dera Baba Jagga Committee Chairman Swarnjit and other dignitaries were present in the seminar. The Health Department, Municipal Council, School and Punjab Police jointly took an oath to fight against drug abuse.
Medical Officer Dr. Saroj and Block Extension Educator Gautam Rishi from the Health Department in their address said that the government under the leadership of Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched the "Yuddh Ke Viruddh" campaign with determination to eradicate drug abuse from its roots. To make Punjab drug free, the cooperation of all people, especially the youth, is needed.
Panchayats have an important role in the campaign being run against drug addiction. He said that the increasing trend of drug addiction has become a serious challenge today and the cooperation of people from all sections is very important to save our young generation from this mental problem.
Block Extension Educator Gautam Rishi said that while drug addicts are being treated by giving free medicines and counseling in OOAT clinics, vocational courses are also being conducted free of cost at the Nasha Mukti Kendra located in Sector 66, Mohali for their rehabilitation. With this, the youth will come out of the quagmire of drug addiction and become self-reliant and become a part of the mainstream of society.
Gautam Rishi motivated the Panchayat representatives and said that the Panchayats themselves should monitor their villages and take initiative to declare their villages as drug free villages by passing regular resolutions. Nagar Panchayat member Harpreet Singh Bhandari praised this campaign of the government and promised to support the administration in every way.
On this occasion, the school students successfully presented a street play against drug abuse and also gave speeches. After this, the students took out an awareness rally carrying banners and placards. The stage was conducted by lecturer Anju Rani. On this occasion, school teachers, village dignitaries and school students were present.
