Nawanshahr, March 9 - A function was organized today in Hasanpur, the home village of Jathedar Mahinder Singh Hasanpur, a member of the Shiromani Committee, to honor former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the highest court of the Sikh community, which was warmly supported by the Panthic circles.
Organized under the leadership of Sadh Lahar of Shiromani Akali Dal, a group of leaders imbued with Panthic sentiments presented ideas for the progress of the nation, which was fully supported by a large number of workers gathered from across the region and resolved to unite on one platform.
Speaking on this occasion, former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said that the Haknama of 2 December pronounced at Sri Akal Takht has been recorded in golden letters in the pages of history, because the Sikh community accepted it with body, mind and money. But it is a different matter that that Haknama did not go down well with some people, who started usurping the property of that Haknama.
He said that those who had signed that Haknama, especially me, were taxed on a large scale, which continues till date. They do not leave any small or big opportunity to evade taxes. Whether they have to get a fake identity card made for this, or have to get a fake identity card made in their own name, they do not leave any opportunity. He revealed that during that time, a knowledgeable Akali leader had read out a message to him, in which the sender had said that they would humiliate him so much that he would be forced to commit suicide, let alone becoming a Jathedar.
He also presented detailed historical information about Bhai Sangha Singh, who beheaded Masse Rangar, and filled the workers sitting in the pandal with new enthusiasm. He said that today the time has come that we should forget our differences and bow down to the dignity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, talk about the real issue of the Panth and Punjab and come on one platform.
On this occasion, besides him, former President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Bibi Jagir Kaur, Jathedar Balbir Singh Changiyara (International Sikh Preacher), former SGPC member Jathedar Tarlochan Singh Dapalpur, senior leader of Sadh Lehar Mr. Charanjit Brar, former MP Mr. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Mr. Gurpratap Singh Wadala, Mr. Sarjit Singh Rokhra and other leaders presented their views on all the developments that took place during the December decision and delivered speeches. Deep concern was expressed over the current situation and a proposal was made to gather on one platform for the progress of the Panth.
On this occasion, Giani Harpreet Singh was specially felicitated by the above mentioned group leaders and the special guests were welcomed by Jathedar Mahinder Singh Hasanpur. His son Mr. Barjinder Singh Hasanpur served all the devotees very well and served Guru ka Langar.
Present on the occasion were Mohan Singh (Banga constituency), Biba Jasvir Kaur, Manmohan Singh Kheda, Manraj Singh Lubangarh, Sarjit Singh Bapparai, Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Baba Narang Singh Ji (Manji Sahib Wale), Baba Thakur Singh Ji (Garpadhana), Shri Kaldeep Singh (Doaba Kisan Union), Dhadi Gurdeep Singh (Urpar), Jathedar Jarnail Singh (Nawanshahr), Resham Singh (Nawanshahr), Jaswinder Singh (Kahma), Sarwinder Singh (Thandi), Avtar Singh, Dalbir Singh (Jahal), Gurdev Singh (Jahal), Mahinder Singh (Jahal), Sohan Singh (Mahal), Manjit Singh (Kanada), Jaspal Singh Virk (Sarpanch Birwal), Gardiyal Singh (Kannada), Parwinder Singh (Kitana) and many other leaders.
