Chandigarh, 20 February 2025- Today, a lecture on the subject of Yoga was organized in the Sanskrit Department of Punjab University, Chandigarh, whose keynote speaker was Professor Surendra from Director Dayanandpeeth and President, Sanskrit Department, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.
Expressing his views on the relevance of Yoga in the current circumstances, Professor Surendra said that Patanjali is the disciplinarian of Yoga Darshan, so he calls Athyoganushasan at the beginning of Yoga Darshan. Describing Yukti Shastra and Anubhut Shastra, he called Yoga as Anubhut Shastra, because it was already experienced. The ancient speaker of Yoga is Hiranyagarbha.
While discussing the five lands of the mind, he discussed Kshipta, Moodha, Viksipta, Sampragya and Nirodha. He said that in the Kshipta state, the mind keeps moving rapidly from one thought to another and from one object to another. In the state of foolishness, delusion arises, Rajoguna and Tamoguna increase. In the state of delusion also, the mind gets absorbed in it, but this is not yoga. While explaining the disturbed state, he said that the disturbed state is a special state from the disturbed state.
Coming here, the person decides his path and from here we can start yoga. In this state, Satvaguna remains dominant, but here Rajoguna and Tamoguna keep fluctuating in between. When the peaceful state of mind is disturbed, that is called Vikshepa. While explaining Samprajnat, he said that at this time, in the concentrated state of mind, Samadhi takes place. Satvaguna dominates. This flowing stream of concentration reaches thoughtlessness.
Here, ignorance, ego, attachment, hatred, etc. start to decay. After this, the person reaches the state of Nirodh. In this state, the mind moves away from Satvaguna, Rajoguna, Tamoguna. This state of mind is called Asamprajnat. While expressing his views on tendencies He gave detailed information on the topics of proof, anagram, Nidra Smriti.
At the end of the program, the Head of the Department, Prof. VK Alankar said that the success of yoga can be achieved by practice, that is why we should practice continuously.
